Welcome to the Recycled Tyke blog, where Emily Anderson, Tracy DiNunzio, and Jessica Grant share the latest in sustainable living, raising a healthy family, and hot trends and green products for you and your kids. You’ll also find exclusive coupons, discounts, and giveaways here for our favorite stylish and sustainable finds.
I am a writer, designer, mom, among other things. The road here has been long and winding, but I’m happy to be exactly where I am. I live in New York City, have an awesome husband who is super-supportive, two little babies (three and one) who are the lights of my life, and a little career writing books and designing things. My main focus is raising my two children and taking care of my family, but I am also passionate about contributing something positive to the world while I’m here. I love style and design, I am a total clothes horse (with a huge collection of vintage designs), love textiles, and enjoy spending time in the kitchen. I am excited that my third book, Eco-Chic Home, has just been released and is available in bookstores everywhere.
I used to work in marketing and branding, first for a fashion company (Donna Karan New York), then for a magazine (Vanity Fair Magazine), and after that for a lifestyle company (Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc.). Somewhere in there I also worked as a New Media Consultant with television stations and web sites (during the first Internet boom, pre-2001). I was a freelance writer (I wrote for American Cheerleader, but I was never a cheerleader). Then I wrote a book about weddings, and it became a part of a big trend called the Green Movement (Eco Chic Weddings). I also started a blog with the same name. The blog became so popular that a lot of the blog’s readers didn’t even know I had written a book. In 2008 I wrote a book for Popular Mechanics about making green changes around the home (When Changing A Light Bulb Just Isn’t Enough.)
There’s nothing I enjoy more than sharing my ideas about conscious consumerism and how I am trying to build a life for my family that is good with style. I hope you’ll join me for the journey. Send me your comments, questions, and ideas at Emily {at} Recycled Tyke.com.
I’m the founder of Recycled Tyke and our parent company, Recycled Media, Inc. I’ve always loved to shop, but I hate waste, so I created a network of websites where women like me can buy great stuff without the guilt. I’m really proud of Recycled Tyke and our other eco-resale marketplaces, because they feel exactly like the warm and friendly consignment boutiques where I like to shop, sell, and make great friends along the way.
In my twenties, I worked as an artist and writer and traveled the world learning about environmental issues. Then I spent several years working behind the scenes on my husband’s online business, which got me hooked on new media, creative marketing, and the power of the Internet. Now I run Recycled Media and consult for big companies about sustainability and green business marketing. It’s way fun.
I grew up in New York and settled down in Santa Monica, California, convinced by a steady diet of fresh local foods and sunshine. Though I don’t have children of my own (yet!) I’m really interested in issues that affect families, like pollution, sustainability, and healthy eating habits. So that’s what I’ll be blogging about here, and I’ll also be bringing you a bunch of guest posts from some of the smartest mamas I know. If you have any ideas, tips, or stories to share with us, drop me a line at Tracy {at} RecycledTyke.com.
As the Recycled Tyke Blog’s resident product guru, I review all of the hottest new toys and gear for babies and kids. I’m a lawyer by trade, and these days I’m a SAHM who loves every minute I spend with my two boys, Max and Ben.
Among my friends and former law school classmates, I’m famous for my “Google-Fu” — the same kung-fu like research skills that I now apply to finding the very best products on the market for my family and yours. I’m a pro at seeking out great deals and new ideas for raising a happy family in a healthy home.
I grew up learning about child development from my pediatrician dad, and I inherited my mom’s shopping bug. Now I get to indulge in shopping for and testing all the best new stuff in my role as a consult for my father and brother’s pediatric practice. They trust me to advise them about which new products, services, and foods they can safely recommend to patients. You can contact me with ideas and info about new products that you think Recycled Tyke readers would want to know about at Jessica {at} RecycledTyke.com.
PS – My third little one arrives this Fall!
